Because of the conflict with the Zoning Board of appeals and the Carbondale Planning Commission meeting we postponed our monthly NCNA Board meeting. We will be meeting at 6:00 PM at the Key West Bar & Grill for a diner meeting on Wednesday, July 24th.
Unfortunately, the issue we were most concerned about was also postponed by the Zoning Board. Here is the text of that announcement:
The Zoning Board of appeals will meet on August 14, 2013 at 6:00p.m. in room 108 of the Carbondale Civic Center to hear the following two items
Lindsey Fisher has appealed the City’s decision to issue a cease and desist letter for the Oakland Auto Shop located at 413 N. Oakland Avenue. This meeting is a continuation of the original ZBA meeting from June 5, 2013. Prior to making a determination on the appeal, the ZBA requested a legal opinion regarding the City’s ability to place a 1 year time limit on a Zoning Certificate, and whether or not the City had the authority to rescind a Zoning Certificate after being issued.
Mike Kimmel is requesting a variance to the minimum side yard setback for an accessory structure and the maximum square footage allowed for an accessory structure for property located at 505 West Walnut Street. Mr. Kimmel is requesting the variance so that he may tear down an existing garage and build a new one in its place.
The Planning Commission will meet on Wednesday August 14, immediately following the ZBA meeting, in room 108 in the Civic Center to consider the following requests:
Lindsey Fisher has submitted a request to rezone the property located at 413 N. Oakland Avenue from R-1-5, Low Density Residential to NB, Neighborhood Business. Ms. Fisher has also requested a Special Use Permit to operate an Automobile Repair and Service facility in the NB, Neighborhood Business district. The Planner assigned to this case is Mark Price.
Donald Morgan, on behalf of Grandie Faith Trust, has requested to rezone property located at 4600 and 4624 Springer Ridge Road from RR, Rural Residential to AG, General Agriculture.
The City Council will meet on Tuesday August 6, 2013 at 7:00p.m. in room 108 of the Civic Center. The following two items discussed at the July 17th Planning Commission meeting will be on the Council’s agenda:
Randy Throgmorton’s request for a Special Use Permit to operate a “contract construction service” in the AG, General Agriculture district located at 1500 Neal Lane. Mr. Throgmorton has submitted this request so that he may continue to operate his business, Giant City Heating and AC, at this location. The Planning Commission recommended denial of this request.
Jeff Cermak, of TitleMax Illinois, request for a Special Use Permit to allow a credit service (other than banks) to operate in the SB, Secondary Business district located at 500 East Walnut (the Old Wendy’s building). The Planning Commission recommended approval of this request.
