Press Release—For Immediate Release—Perseverance –The 9th ANNUAL CARBONDALE NEIGHBORHOOD ALLIANCE MEETING

The theme of this year’s Carbondale’s Neighborhood Alliance Meeting is “Perseverance”, honoring those individuals and groups, past and present, who persevere, in bringing community issues and projects to life.   Along with honoring leaders who have died this year, updates on significant community issues, neighborhood reports and updates on Carbondale projects will be presented.

The “long haul” community efforts of Mary Boyle (1935-2013-community theater), Charles Bauman (1946-2013 Carbondale Comprehensive Plan), Mary Ellen Dillard (1929-2013-education and the arts), Bill Mehrtens (1951-2013 – Carbondale Soccer/law enforcement advocacy), Willie Neal (1933-2013 – environmental justice), and Natalie Trimble (1927-2013-Jackson County government) will be honored.  Updates on the “Neighborhood Watch” Carbondale’s “Neighborhood Notification” program, pool, library, Main Street and Preservation efforts, along with disaster preparedness, food security and environmental projects

The Neighborhood Alliance Meetings will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 214 W Main St, on Saturday morning, January 25, starting at 9:30 with registration, coffee, and informational displays.
