Announcements: Keep Carbondale Beautiful Arbor Trail Cleanup—July 25th;  New Wednesday Farmer’s Market across from Newell House—great corn last week; Southern Illinois Risk Reduction –IEMA Earthquake courses targeting architects, engineers, building inspectors tentative datesNovember 19 and 20 and survey on organizations serving vulnerable populations; Fire Chief John Michalesko retiring –last day September 11th;  4th of

    July celebrations

    a. Communiqué –Deadlines and ideas for articles- for Sept/Oct=August 14, article on 211 program; Nov/Dec=October 15 on Alliance meeting;  Jan/Feb = Dec 15?; Mar/Apr =Feb 15 on specific neighborhood and issues?.
    b. Neighborhood Reports—Discussion of dimensions of enforcing over occupancy— Who is the burden of proof o regarding over occupancy claims.  What does code say on this?  Is mail being received at address in question the major source of validation on over occupancy? Role of Complaints?    United States Post office appears to be changing its’ policy on supplying verification to City.  Is this because of change in regional role and administration of Carbondale Post office?  Also it appears that some landlords have not added the addendum regarding zoning to their leases.  Also copies of leases are not currently required as part of the rental inspection program.  Mary will be checking into this
    c. Keep Carbondale Beautiful– Litter index taking place July 9th; Discussion of Garden Tour how well it was received and ideas people gained from it
    d.Downtown updates—Discuss of the June meeting—polling; how to encourage more people to take advantage of the online opportunities; how few downtown businesses come to meetings
    e. Map Your Neighborhood —  Southern Illinois Risk Reduction discussion of ; discussion of possibility of  work on including Liberty Village Manor Court facility including nursing home in the Disaster preparedness planning for this Neighborhood.  Mary and Eric will follow-up in fall.
    f. Planning Commission– meeting canceled; congratulations and thank you to Sandy Litecky for her appointment to the Commission
